Supporting people affected by forced adoptions

Association for Adoptees (previously WASH)

In 1990 mothers and adopted persons affected by forced adoptions came together after meeting and discovering that we had shared similar experiences. Since then we have run peer support meetings, provided information on how to search for adoption records and given support to those trying to make contact with their parent or the adult adopted person.

Initially we had a very small group, but as people heard about us through word of mouth our numbers increased. Now we have several hundred members.

People continue to feel the effects of forced adoptions and deserve support today as much as ever.
