Journey to a failed reunion part 1

In the summer of 1988 I started getting what information there was in relation to my birth. I eventually obtained the consent to adopt, Application to Adopt, Order of Adoption and my original birth record.

By January of the year 1990 I was emotionally ready to start the search. Adoption information services had no records on the location of my mother so I had to basically do the detective work myself.

I obtained my mother’s birth certificate and from there was able to search records to find out who her parents were and obtained their wedding certificate.

I was even able to find the house where she was born in Launceston and surprisingly it was at the foot of the hill of the Rocklynn House Salvation Army home where I was born. As another coincidence the last house I boarded in in Launceston in 1968 was also at the base of that hill.

After many years of stop starting and fishing with no luck, I managed to get hold of the electoral records for the years 1952, 1954, 1957 and was able to trace her between Launceston and Georgetown. Then she disappeared.
