Discovery part 1

In 2012, by listing Avonhurst Private Hospital on Facebook, I found another adoptee born at that hospital. I was told that a woman in Clarendon St, South Melbourne had referred her adopting couple to my American, Middle Park doctor to arrange her adoption. The pieces were falling into place. This was a similar situation to mine. But I could find no record of how much was paid in regard to my adoption. Was I a ₤50 baby? I suspect so and that my adopting couple paid the money to the same South Melbourne woman who took her cut and passed the rest to the consulting American doctor. Mum wouldn’t have received a cent.

On searching I retrieved the necessary legal deposition stating no monies were paid toward expenses, or for any other reason, by my adopting couple and that the Court had not sanctioned any unspecified payments. I then contacted a Victorian Department of Human Services Officer who wrote to me stating that the Department had no record of any illicit payment. But I did find one.
